Parent Aide Program

The Catholic Charities Parent Aide Program inception was over 25 years ago.  The Therapeutic Parent Aides provide assistance and resources to English and Spanish speaking families throughout the community with the main goal of family reunification. The program provides services to the Worcester area, North Central region which includes Fitchburg, Leominster and several towns in the South Central region such as Webster, Southbridge, and Dudley.

When a family is in crisis, the Catholic Charities Parent Aide Program is a short term service, typically three to four months, that works to restore positive functioning in families who would benefit from a variety of coordinated services that are individualized to meet each family’s specific needs.  We have a strong commitment to services that uplift the lives of children and families in the communities in which they live. The Parent Aides work side by side with Department of Children and Families (DCF) and social workers with the families that are in crisis and assist them with attaining resources to stabilize the family unit. This program recognizes family challenges, the cycles of abuse, and works to educate the parents about focusing on changes that will bring success to each and every family.

Parent Education Workshops & Activities

The Parent Aide program offers two parenting groups.  One is located in Southbridge that teaches the Love and Logic the Parenting Way curriculum.  This program is held two to three times a year based on needs and teaches families a way that will develop caring and respectful relationships. Creating a loving connection between parents and their children is the root of a healthy, thriving relationship built on trust and understanding.

A supportive parenting group is held weekly in Webster. This is an on-going parenting group, which provides information, knowledge and resources to help parents become more capable and competent to enhance their family.  Both of these groups are open to the public and participation is voluntary.
