The Startling Truth:
Many families struggle to pay for food, rent, utilities, and transportation. As a result, 1 in 3 families cannot afford diapers, which are not covered by the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This leads to many infants being in one diaper the entire day, which often results in infections and rashes. This can also cause emotional and psychological issues for parents and caregivers who then struggle to bond with their baby.
How Catholic Charities is Impacting Change:
Troubled by these facts, Catholic Charities has begun collecting diapers and wipes and has applied for different grants to purchase these necessities for families. Staff members are collecting these items, getting the word out about this program, and working with volunteers to build partnerships within the communities we serve.
How You Can Help:
Through Jet.com, nonprofit agencies are able to purchase diapers and wipes at a significantly lower price. This allows Catholic Charities to provide families, on a monthly basis, with these items. Here are four ways that you can support this program:
2. Send a check (please put Diaper Program in the memo section) payable to Catholic Charities (10 Hammond Street; Worcester, MA 01610).
3. Donate diapers and wipes to our Worcester Office (10 Hammond Street), Leominster Office (196 Mechanic Street), Milford Office (200 Main Street), and Southbridge Office (79 Elm Street).
Thank you for your generosity in supplying funds to our Diaper Program: Christ the King Parish (Worcester, MA), St. Brigid Church (Millbury, MA), St. Luke’s the Evangelist (Westborough, MA), St. Anna Society of St. Anna Parish (Leominster, MA), St. Vincent Healthcare Fund, and Fallon/OrNda at Greater Worcester Community Foundation
